Almus Edd Johnson Jr

Almus Edd Johnson Jr, 74, of Moundville Al passed away peacefully on June 25, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents Almus Edd Johnson Sr and Lois "Honey" Johnson, his brother Gary Johnson and his cherished wife of 35 yrs Barbara Anne Johnson. He is survived by his devoted wife of 18 yrs Nona Woods, his brothers Donnie Johnson and Ronnie Johnson, his sister Carrie Freeman, his son Micheal Johnson (Deborah), his daughter Kimberly Johnson Schmidt (Scott), grandchildren Krystin Kimberly (Josh), Jessica Nelson (Alex), Shelby Schmidt, Jonathon Schmidt (Ashley), Savanna Wooley. He also leaves behind six great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other family members. Big Edd was a gentle soul who was a 1966 graduate of Hale County High School where he lettered in every sport and after a short time at UA started a drafting career at Reliance Steele. A proud coal miner he spent most of his working life at Jim Walter Resources where he retired from the Central shop after 28 years. He was a huge Alabama fan and collected every championship t-shirt and wore them proudly. Edd never met a stranger but mostly loved spending time with his growing family.
There will be no memorial service the immediate family has gathered together and asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
