Augusta B. Skillman

Augusta B. Skillman (Wofford) went home to be with God on June 29, 2023. Augusta was 81 years of age when she passed. Augusta grew up near Boaz, AL. After High School, she married James Robert Skillman of Walnut Grove, AL. They lived together in six states and three foreign countries while James Robert Skillman served in the United States Air Force. Mom lived in Walnut Grove from 1984 to 2013, and then moved to Pell City where she lived the remainder of her life. James Robert Skillman preceded her in death in 1996. Augusta was also preceded in death by her father and mother, Hershel and Ardice Wofford, as well as her baby sister Billie Ruth Cryer. Augusta is survived by her son James R. Skillman II (Skipper) and his wife Dana Skillman; and her son Christopher W. Skillman and his wife Mary S. Skillman. Augusta had five grandchildren, James Macon, Sloan, Samuel, Harrison, and Wren. Augusta is also survived by her sister Deloris Mcglaughn, brother Cunningham Wofford, and his wife Paula. Augusta was a world traveler, having visited 34 different countries and all 50 of the United States. Augusta was a devoted servant of God. She immersed much of her life in Christian ministries, including leading Children's Church, teaching Sunday School, serving on the Walnut Grove UMC Church Board, and supporting domestic and foreign missions. Memorial Services will be held on July 22, 2023, at Pell City First United Methodist Church. Visitation from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Memorial Service from 12:30 to 1:30 PM.
