Our wonderful mother, Nona Faye Ledbetter Dooley, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022. Gadsden, Alabama was her hometown and she lived most of her 88 years there. Recently, she lived in Birmingham, Alabama. Mrs. Dooley was a life-long member of Bellevue United Methodist Church and attended Helena United Methodist Church while in Birmingham. She graduated from Etowah High School and treasured her many friendships from school. Her career was in banking, beginning at First National Bank and retiring from AmSouth Bank. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Bellevue Chapter and served as Worthy Matron. She was an avid reader and loved traveling throughout the United States and abroad. Mrs. Dooley was preceded in death by her husband (Jack Dooley), parents (Cecil and Joyce Ledbetter), and brother (Lavonne Ledbetter). She is survived by her children, Pamela (Ron) Roman, Bruce (Cynthia) Dooley, and Lori (Richard) Feist. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Brad (Jennifer) Dooley, Reese (Brittneylee) Feist, Jane (Kevin) McGillicudy, David (Brittany) Dooley, Jack (Hannah) Feist, great-granddaughters Brantlee and Blakelee Feist. Much to her regret, Mrs. Dooley will not be here to meet her great-grandchildren who will be arriving soon. She is also survived by her brother James (Cherie) Ledbetter, sister Evelyn Gowens, and sisters-in-law Cynthia Ledbetter and Wanda Gaines. Mrs. Dooley had a large and close extended family, with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. She loved them all dearly and looked forward to reunion with those gone before. Special thanks to nurses and staff of St. Martin’s in the Pines, Compassus Hospice, and Dr. Natividad Stover for their care. If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to Hand in Paw (handinpaw.org/donate). A memorial service celebrating the life of Mrs. Dooley will be held at Helena United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 2:00 o’clock with Reverend Rusty Tate officiating. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service in the Fellowship Hall.
