William Sexton

We are saddened to share the news of William Sexton's passing, fondly known as Billy, to his friends and loved ones. Billy was born on February 3, 1947, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. On July 19, Billy peacefully left us at Hospice of West Alabama. He now joins his beloved wife, Shirley, his parents, Marvin and Floy Sexton, his brother Marvin Sexton Jr., and his sister Patsy McCool in eternal peace. Billy leaves behind a loving family, including his children Linda Williams (Russell), Monica Evans (Cliff), Harold Sexton, and Michael Sexton, grandchildren Charlie Moon, Jordan Brummel, Drake Stewart, Hayden Sexton, Katelyn Evans, Aubree Evans, and Jordan Evans, and five great-grandchildren, Collins, Williams, Hayes and Sellers Moon and Addalyn Stewart, and his companion Sandra Plowman, who held a special place in his heart. Billy was not only cherished for his personal connections, but he was also highly respected as a master mason by trade. After dedicating years to perfecting his craft, he retired from masonry and found joy in serving as an usher at many sporting events at The University of Alabama'. Nevertheless, his true passion resided in the Black Warrior River. Whether he was reminiscing about his early years spent on its banks or actively participating in events such as the Tuscaloosa Afloat Christmas parade and Pirates of the Warrior, the river always provided him with a sense of solace and belonging. We invite you to join us in celebrating Billy's remarkable life at a joyful Celebration of Life Service. The service will be held on Saturday, July 22, at 11 am at Wildwood Baptist Church. Prior to the service, there will be a visitation period starting at 10:30 am. In honor of Billy's memory, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama or to a charity of your choice. Let us come together to honor and remember Billy's life, sharing stories and memories.
